We have been chosen as a finalist for United Way of Central Indiana Social Innovation Fund!! "I toured the Midwest with alt-rock group Borrow Tomorrow for 10 years before going solo: picking up the acoustic guitar and gigging around Indianapolis in more intimate settings. I enjoy getting creative with my loop station, singing crowd favorites, and engaging the audience." What does living in a village like Circle City Village look like? This November 2021 podcast from Non-Profit Quarterly gives a great glimpse of life at CommunityFirst! in Austin, TX. Even though we are not nearly as large as CommunityFirst!, this village is where the Community First model we are adapting to our location in Indianapolis originates. After leading the Circle City Village initiative from its beginnings in 2016, Leon Longard has stepped down as President of the Board for Circle City Village. New responsibilities with his missions organization, Communitas International, and a family move led Leon to shift to a supportive role on the board. He will remain on the board as President Emeritus to advise and coach the team in continuing this work. Through Leon's ongoing involvement, Communitas International will continue to be a partner in the project, as well. The first two of the tiny houses being donated by Volumod LLC are near completion. The weather was challenging but a small crew of Circle City Village volunteers showed up for our Neighborhood Cleanup today and focused on cleaning the main storm sewer drain for the neighborhood. Exciting news!!!! Volumod Modular Homes has offered to donate 2 - 6 tiny homes to Circle City Village! The first two homes are currently being built. This donation will go a long way in helping us reach our goal of building a place where those transitioning out of homelessness can experience healing and take the first steps to a sustainable life.
